My son has put his name down to enter a local strongman competition. He trains almost exclusively on his own in the garage, so we have very little idea on whether or not he'll be competitive in this contest.
The contest is split into Under 90kg class and over 90kg. He will be in the under 90kg class.
The five events for his class are:-
Log press 55kg floor to overhead for reps in 90 seconds.
Yoke carry 190kg for 20meters.
Deadlift (your best lift out of 3 lifts).
Tyre flip- max reps in 60seconds (overs and unders use the same tyre).
A loading event with sandbags and other items.
Guys, I know we don't have enough information for the tyre flip and loading event. But can any of you offer any info on what is a good score for the other events.
So far, we've tested the deadlift and he's about 200kg. And he can do 19 reps of the 55kg log in 90 seconds. Is this respectable? It's his first competition and he's worried about looking weak cos he thinks all of the other competitors may be taking lots of AS and blow away his scores. (He is totally natural.)
Thanks for any advice.
